THE BODY of a man in his forties was found in the sea off Portmarnock beach in Co Dublin by Howth lifeboat yesterday morning. The man, who has yet to be identified, was described as being 5 feet 10 inches in height and of heavy build, with a beard.

A climber was airlifted to Waterford Regional Hospital yesterday after an accident on the Comeragh Mountains. An Air Corps helicopter from Baldonnel went to the scene. The man suffered minor injuries and was released from hospital last night.

The lifeboat at Ballycotton, Co Cork, rescued a man trapped on a cliff face at Ard Carraig at about 5 p.m. yesterday. The man, said to be a German tourist, did not require any medical treatment.
