Property developer Green Property is to invest euro 38 million in its Blanchardstown Centre site creating 1,500 jobs, the company said today.
Chief executive Mr Stephen Vernon said today the investment will be made in a 150,000 square foot retail park and a 65,000 square foot office development.
Green has already invested euro 35 million in the expansion of the centre over the past 18 months, including the development of a third department store for Penneys and more car parks.
With a turnover of over euro 1.2 billion, the centre has recorded over 68.25 million shopper visits in the past five years.
Green Property is also awaiting a decision from An Bord Pleanála on a 150,000 square foot extension in Blanchardstown where hardware retailer B&Q will be the anchor tenant.
On completion of these developments, employment at The Blanchardstown Centre will be close to 5,500 people.
The population of Blanchardstown is predicted to grow from 74,000 to 96,000 within the next five years, Mr Vernon said.
Green Property said 72 per cent of shoppers travel from the north and south of Dublin, 10 per cent travel from Meath, 3 per cent travel from both Louth and Kildare while the remaining 12 per cent travel from the rest of the country.
