British Prime Minister, Mr Tony Blair, is to hold an emergency cabinet meeting with his senior ministers tomorrow to discuss the September 11 US attacks, his spokesman said.
The meeting, to be held at 10 Downing Street, is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m., the spokesman said.
He said Mr Blair called the meeting so he could update his ministers on Britain's involvement in any US plans to hit back at the perpetrators of the attacks and give them a general overview of the situation in the aftermath.
Mr Blair has also announced a recall of parliament tomorrow next week for a one-day debate on possible action against Osama bin Laden - the man suspected of being behind the attacks - and Afghanistan's ruling Taliban.
Earloer Britain's Foreign Office said it had scaled down the number of Britons missing or feared dead in the US attacks from 250 to 200.
"We are now working with a figure of around 200," a British Foreign Office spokesman told.
The new estimate was compiled after people who were originally listed as missing reported to British officials in New York.
Only about 60 British have so far been named as missing as families - some of whom have travelled to New York - are reluctant to give up hope that missing loved ones may turn up alive.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said five Irish people were confirmed dead and a further eight were missing - it believes the final figure will be in the low twenties.
Calling for end to speculation on the true figure of Irish casualties, the Department also expressed their concern that "undocumented immigrants" could be among the missing or the dead.
