The Bishop of Killaloe, Dr. Willie Walsh, has stated his unhappiness with the way the issue of clerical sexual abuse was being treated in the media.
Speaking on national radio, the Bishop said it was leading to confrontation and that this could only lead to further victimisation of victims.
Though he commended the media for bringing attention to the issue of clerical sex abuse, he pleaded with journalists to try and do more to understand the problem. He also said the Church may have adhered too closely to legal advice on the issue at the expense of pastoral advice.
