Big Brother spotted in Dail

If RTE is contemplating an Irish version of Big Brother it could do worse than start in Leinster House

If RTE is contemplating an Irish version of Big Brother it could do worse than start in Leinster House. New security cameras along the corridors of the New Building mean deputies and senators are frequently on view. Many are not pleased and some are so angry over the cameras that action is planned.

The authorities admit the cameras exist but say they cannot discuss security matters. The whips have complained about spying on legislators, who could be involved in delicate negotiations with either in-house or outside individuals. What, one handler asked Quidnunc this week, if a deputy wanted to cross the floor of the house, yet his every discussion was filmed and viewed by security personnel whom the politicians believe hang out on the top floor?
