Switzerland have recalled defender Bruno Berner for their World Cup 2006 qualifier against the Republic of Ireland tonight.
Berner has been brought in to give Switzerland coach Koebi Kuhn more options for the left back position.
Christoph Spycher and Raphael Wicky are struggling to recover from injuries they picked up before the squad training camp.
Spycher has injured his right thigh while Wicky is struggling with his right shinbone.
"Injuries have always been part of the game and, with the inclusion of Berner, who has already played 16 internationals, we are well covered in that area," Kuhn said.
"But the changes won't influence our tactical formation."
Switzerland face Ireland, Cyprus, France, Switzerland, Israel and Faroe Islands in Group Four.
The Swiss hammered the Faroe Islands 6-0 in their opening qualifier on Saturday while Ireland comfortably beat Cyprus 3-0.
