Police appealed for information today following two paramilitary-style shootings of two teenagers in Belfast.

Three men broke into a house in the Ravenhill Avenue area of east Belfast and attacked a 16-year-old boy, punching and kicking him before shooting him in both legs yesterday afternoon.

The men, who wore dark clothing, escaped into an alleyway at the back of the house, police said.

In a separate incident a 17-year-old youth was shot twice in both ankles when a man broke into a house in the Rodney Drive area, west Belfast at around 8.30 p.m. yesterday evening.

Both victims were recovering in hospital. Police have appealed for any witnesses who may have seen people acing suspiciously in either of the two areas to come forward.
