A disgraced former teacher jailed for sex offences against young girls has had his OBE taken off him by Britain's queen.
Denis Edward Grant was jailed at Belfast Crown Court in April for three-and-a-half years after being found guilty of sexually abusing six girls aged between nine and 13.
An announcement in the London Gazettetoday said the Queen had ordered that the OBE she awarded to Grant more than two decades ago shall be forfeited and "shall be cancelled and annulled and that his name shall be erased from the register of said order".
Grant was awarded the military division of the OBE while the acting lieutenant colonel of the Cadet Corp at Campbell College in east Belfast in 1984.
The 69-year-old was later jailed for abusing young girls he was tutoring at his home in Cabin Hill Park - near his former school.
The man, who had a 40-year teaching career, was ordered to sign the sex offenders' register and remain on it for life, and he was barred from ever working with children again.
