An overnight fire that destroyed a Methodist church in north Belfast was not started maliciously, initial police and fire service investigations have shown.
About 40 soldiers and police helped to evacuate residents after the fire at Jennymount Church, North Queen Street, broke out shortly before midnight.
Most residents were allowed to return to their homes by 2 a.m., but North Queen Street will remain closed this morning as the clean-up begins.
The Rev Jim Lemon, who said the church had been preparing to celebrate its centenary, described it as a tragedy for the 500 families who worship at Jennymount.
