THE HIGH Court has continued a ban on publication of a chapter of the Dublin Catholic archdiocese abuse report pending the outcome of certain criminal proceedings.

Mr Justice Paul Gilligan yesterday said he was continuing an order restraining publication of chapter 20 of the report and adjourned the matter to July 2012.

Following discussions with all relevant parties, it was agreed the court should keep in place an order from November 2009 withholding publication of chapter 20, pending the outcome of criminal proceedings relating to a person named in that chapter.

The report, compiled by Judge Yvonne Murphy of the Circuit Court, investigated the handling of clerical child sex abuse allegations involving 46 priests, in Dublin’s Catholic archdiocese, by church and State authorities between 1975 and 2004.
