Greenpeace today called on the Government to introduce laws banning inefficient light bulbs.
The environmental group said if Minister for the Environment John Gormley introduced such a law, Ireland could save more energy per household than any other EU country.
It proposes the measure be announced in the Budget and introduced so that conventional incandescent light bulbs are outlawed by 2010.
Government negotiators arrive at the UN climate conference, in Bali, Indonesia, today. The conference will be laying the foundation for extending the Kyoto Protocol.
