Baltimore Technologies has announced that BBS, the provider of payments infrastructures and services to Norwegian banks has contracted Baltimore to develop security for on-line payments in Scandanavia.
The solution will utilize Baltimore's security products UniCERT, KeyTools security toolkits and Baltimore's Professional Services to deliver a complete package for BBS.
The contract is worth €3.4 million and is to be delivered over the next six months.
BankID, the system to be developed by Baltimore, will be a common security system for all Norwegian banks and the long-term goal is to establish BankID as the preferred electronic ID in Norway.
"We have selected Baltimore because . . they were able to provide a complete solution for this mission critical system," said Oyvind Apelland, Senior VP Trusted Services BBS.
"This is a project of strategic importance and strongly positions the Norwegian banks to provide trusted services.
The BankID Central Infrastructure covers all the necessary components to receive and process certificate orders.
