The High Court has ruled that the TEEU, had made out a case that it was entitled to place pickets outside flats in Ballymun arising from an industrial dispute which has left the flats with just two working lifts.

The court yesterday lifted a temporary injunction against the Technical Engineering and Electrical Union which had restrained picketing in the dispute. It fixed May 20th for the full hearing of proceedings by Dublin City Council against the union arising from the pickets.

In a statement afterwards, the union said it would be approaching other unions in Dublin City Council to seek their support.

The injunction was obtained last week by Dublin City Council arising from the three- month dispute between the union and the lift maintenance company, Pickerings, over the redundancy of seven of its employees in Ballymun.

Ms Justice Mary Laffoy ruled the union had complied with the Industrial Relations Act 1990 by conducting a secret ballot and serving notice of intention to strike.

On that basis, she ordered the lifting of the interim injunction restraining picketing.
