A number of flights to and from Dublin have been delayed today due to bad weather.
While services are reported to be slowly returning to normal, flights into the capital are still running behind schedule and passengers flying to Dublin airport have been advised to check with their airlines before travelling.
Any passengers due to travel to London’s Heathrow Airport have been advised to check their flight status before leaving home. There were a number of flight delays and cancellations on Sunday due to bad weather and BAA have advised that this is impacting on flights today.
Meanwhile the AA reports that road conditions have improved.
Earlier this morning, motorists were warned to care when travelling as the cold snap left black ice and slush on roads across the country.
Temperatures were below zero on the N22 at Killarney, N2 at Monaghan, and the N3 in Cavan earlier this morning.
The Road Safety Authority said motorists should look out for black ice in sheltered areas on rural and local roads. Meanwhile, heavy snowfalls have left a number of roads wet and slushy.
Ferry services to and from Dublin are unaffected by the adverse weather however, a number of sailings from Larne have been cancelled.
Met Éireann has warned that it will turn cold again tonight with occasional showers of hail and sleet and some snowfalls affecting Ulster, Connacht and parts of the east coast. Lowest temperatures will drop to between zero and -3 degrees.
