Bristol - Grieving parents were yesterday told they will have to wait to find out which children had heart or body tissue retained after they died following surgery at Bristol's Royal Infirmary.
Parents from the Bristol Heart Children's Action Group, representing more than 300 families in England's south-west and Wales, met the hospital's chief executive, Mr Hugh Ross, after learning recently that at least 170 hearts were retained following post mortem examinations in a 20-year period up to 1995.
Just over a week ago parents learned of the "systematic" retention of hearts and other tissues from children who died after complex cardiac surgery.
