British Airways passenger traffic fell by 24.7 per cent in October the airline said today.
BA said premium traffic, which includes first class and business class travel, fell 36.2 per cent in October and non-premium traffic slid 22.4 per cent.
It said forward bookings for November indicate a similar traffic decline to October with the US, Middle East and Japan being the worst affected markets.
"Early indications for December suggest a slight improvement on November, although the outlook remains volatile," it said.
BA also announced that it would combine its two regional airlines whereby British Airways Regional will become part of British Airways CitiExpress.
It has also entered a deal with Warburg Pincus to sell its majority shareholding in its India-based data management company, World Network Services, to the private equity group. British Airways shares were 4.6 per cent lower at 140p.
