A woman has been awarded €75,500 at the High Court after medical staff failed to remove swabs following a procedure at Waterford Regional Hospital.

The case arose out of a procedure at the hospital in February 2006 after Emma Noack (27) fell pregnant with twins, while she miscarried on one of them weeks previously. After the birth in February 2006, swabs were left inside Ms Noack from a “stitching process”.

She was awarded €50,000 for past pain and suffering, €25,000 for future pain and suffering, €500 in special damages in addition to costs.
