This autumn was the warmest recorded in 35 years at Kilkenny, Cork Airport and Rosslare, and the warmest for 52 years at Valentia, Co Kerry, Met Eireann has said.
All the autumn months had above-average temperatures, with Valentia and Rosslare registering 12.6 degrees Celsius above normal for the season as a whole.
The highest autumn temperature, 24.2 degrees C, was registered at Kilkenny on September 30th. Autumn rainfall totals were well below normal in the north and east but above normal in the south, ranging from 73 per cent of normal at Malin Head to 122 per cent of normal at Cork Airport.
