St Anthony’s Catholic church on the Woodstock Road sustained smoke damage when a firebomb was thrown through a window. Police are treating the matter as arson.

Meanwhile in Derry city, a commercial premises was gutted after a fire Police believe to have been started maliciously. Several fire brigade units attended the fire on North Edward Street through most of the night.

The street is currently closed off to traffic pending an assessment of the stability of building.
