At least 17 people were killed and 41 seriously injured today when a public transport bus plunged into a ravine in western Ethiopia.
The bus had been on sloping ground near Serbu-Sire, 278 kilometres west of the capital, when it fell into the ravine 10 metres deep, a police source said.
An eight-year-old girl and a man escaped without serious injury from the vehicle, but the driver and his assistant were among the casualties.
Police have opened an enquiry into the accident.
