A Nigerian asylum seeker has been remanded in custody charged with handling a stolen credit card. Mr Babatunde Agunyemi (28) of North Strand Road, Dublin, is accused of handling a stolen Gold Mastercard at Sound Vision, Parnell Street, last Wednesday. Mr Michael Staines, solicitor defending, had asked for bail, saying the accused man had a yellow card, issued by the Aliens Office.
But Garda Darragh O'Toole said he was not satisfied with the defendant's identity as documents with different names were found at his flat.
A co accused, Mr Adesegun Adeboye (32), also of North Strand Road and who claims to be an English national, was refused bail on the grounds he had no proof of identity or ties in this State. Both men were granted free legal aid and remanded in custody to appear again on May 15th.
