A Co Tyrone Catholic family who were assaulted by a gang of loyalists on their housing estate received agreed damages totalling £5,000 at Cookstown Court yesterday.
Mr Francis William Devlin (53), of Finnobar, Coagh, received £1,500; his wife, Anne (50), received £2,500; and their son, Damien (21), received £1,000. They sustained cuts and bruises to the face, head and body when struck by sticks and pool cues wielded by a gang of about 20 loyalists. The incident occurred after a Hallowe'en bonfire had been lit on the estate in 1992.
