The Christian Solidarity Party has a novel way of campaigning. It calls press conferences at which the media is prevented from asking questions, in favour of supporters echoing the sentiments of the platform. The sole journalist at a No to Nice press conference on Tuesday had to demand a third question.
Can it be that the ideal for the CSP is a press conference attended by no member of the media at all, thus leaving the party faithful to reassure each other about the heinous conspiracies being hatched to destroy Ireland's Christian heritage. But since the press conference in Wynns Hotel, Dublin, began with the 20 or so members being led by president Patrick Smyth in The Lord's Prayer, maybe the occasion wasn't addressed to an earthly audience at all.
Unfortunately, the Natural Law Party is not in evidence on this campaign. Its press conferences involved demonstrations of yogic flying in which candidates and supporters bounced up and down on mattresses, the preliminary stage of levitation. Only masters are believed to achieve true levitation.
