The Civic Arts Theatre, Belfast, could face closure if Belfast city council's arts subcommittee upholds its decision not to extend any more funding to the venue for the coming financial year. Theatre administrators met council representatives for emergency talks last night.
Last year, the Arts Theatre received £153,000 in subsidies from the council. There is mounting speculation that without subsidies, the theatre will be forced to close in 10 days when its current production, Sleeping Beauty, comes to an end.
