Champions League Round up
Arsenal’s Champions League hopes suffered a setback tonight when they lost 2-0 at home to Deportivo La Coruna.
Goals from Juan Carlos Valeron and Nourredine Naybet gave the Spanish cup winners victory and ended the Gunners’ 18-match unbeaten record.
While Deportivo are now through to the last eight, Arsenal will now have to gain at least a point away to Juventus in Turin next Wednesday to ensure progress.
The Italian giants lost 3-1 in their Group D match away to Bayer Leverkusen.
Elsewhere, Real Madrid scored three times within 11 minutes in the second half to crush Sparta Prague 3-0 at the Bernabeu dashing the Czech side's hopes of joining them in the quarter-finals.
Real took the lead on 60 minutes when Brazilian substitute Savio and chipped the goalkeeper. Four minutes later Guti made it 2-0 with a low shot from the edge of the box.
Savio completed a satisfying night's work for the home side by heading in from Raul Bravo's high cross into the centre in the 71st minute.
Porto won 2-1 at home to Panathinaikos in the other Group C game tonight.
