Arsenal have been crowned Premiership champions after they beat Manchester United in a fiery title showdown at Old Trafford.
FA Cup winners Arsenal needed only a point to secure their second double in five seasons at the home of the defending champions and they finished the job in style, courtesy of Sylvain Wiltord's 56th-minute winner.
United, who needed to beat Arsene Wenger's side to take the title race into the final day of the season on Saturday, saw three players booked in a ferocious first half but rarely troubled the visitors' defence in a lacklustre display.
The result secured Arsenal their 12th title and ensured that the 1998 double-winners became the first top flight club since Preston North End in 1888-89 to remain unbeaten in every away game. They have also scored in every league game this season.
The celebrations in north London will continue on Saturday when Arsenal, who have now achieved the double three times, host Everton at Highbury in the last game of the season.
United slip into third position in the league behind Liverpool after the Anfield club beat Blackburn 4-3.
