Dublin department store operator Arnotts said today sales in 2001 increased by 10 per cent to €192.5 million.
The group which owns the River Island store on Grafton Street and Boyers on North Earl Street as well as its flagship store on Abbey Street reported pretax profit of €17.8 million an increase of 14.2 per cent on 2000.
Arnotts said refurbishment of its Grafton Street store is now completed and Boyers is on track for completion in Autumn.
Other developments in 2001 included the conversion of the electrical goods division from a concession to a trading entity under Arnotts own control as well as major refurbishment of the branch in Grafton Street and the renaming of Arnotts young fashion brand to IMPULSE.
Arnotts chairman Mr Michael O’Connor said that while the first two months of the year are usually quiet nothing has arisen at this time to give cause for concern.
