Police in Armagh are investigating whether a petrol bomb attack on a house in the city was racially motivated.

Police in Armagh are investigating whether a petrol bomb attack on a house in the city was racially motivated.

The house in Alexander Park, Armagh, is occupied by Eastern European nationals and was attacked at around 8 p.m this evening.

Two petrol bombs were thrown inside the house after the front living room window was broken.  One of the devices ignited and caused minor scorch damage to the inside of the house.

Chief Inspector Hugh Hume of the PSNI condemned the attack and said everything will be done to catch those responsible.

"I strongly condemn this attack which could easily have resulted in serious injury.  Police take such incidents very seriously and a senior investigating officer has been appointed to head the investigation.

"We will not rest until we find those responsible for this cowardly incident," he added.
