Argentine deputies have passed measures ending the peso's parity with the dollar and giving the government emergency powers to restructure the country's shattered economy.
The legislation was passed as a package by a show of hands after almost nine hours of debate. The deputies were to hold a separate vote on each of the 21 articles.
The Senate was expected to take a vote later Sunday.
The legislation gives emergency powers to President Eduardo Duhalde to salvage the Argentine economy, battered by 43 months of recession.
