An appeal has been issued to the public for information on a serious assault which happened in Dublin city centre on Sunday night.

The assault that took place on Wellington Quay at 11.45pm on Valentine's night.

A man in his 20s received injuried to his face when he was assaulted by three men as he walked on Wellington Quay towards O'Connell Street.

The three men ran towards the Halfpenny Bridge.

One male was arrested on Henry Street shortly afterwards. Gardaí have issued a description of the three suspects.

The man who was arrested was wearing a bright orange jacket with a hood, blue tracksuit bottoms and white runners. A second man wearing dark clothing was on a push bike while the third man, who was on foot, was also wearing dark clothing.

Witnesses who may have been in the area of Aston Quay/Wellington Quay/Halfpenny Bridge/Bachelors Walk at around 11.45pm on Valentines Night have been asked by gardaí to come forward.

The injured man was wearing a green Ireland t-shirt and managed to chase the culprits along the Quays after it happened.

The bright orange jacket worn by one of the offenders was very distinctive and stood out, gardaí said.
