An Post and the Irish Postmasters' Union (IPU) will meet for talks in Dublin today over a dispute that could affect postal deliveries next week.
The sides will discuss a threat by postmasters and postmistresses throughout the State to disrupt the sorting of post from Monday.
The IPU claims allowances for early morning work are insufficient and says staff are not being paid for carrying out other functions.
An Post runs 100 of the State's 1,800 post offices, with the rest run by members of the IPU as sub-contractors.
