Aer Lingus passengers have nothing to fear from claims that airlines have known for 10 years about the possible links between long-haul flights and deep vein thrombosis.
A spokesman for the airline said Aer Lingus had only started what are called long-haul flights of eight hours or more in the past couple of years when it opened the Los Angeles route.
"Since it became known as an issue - although there is still a lot of uncertainty - we have been co-operating in research with St Vincent's hospital in Dublin." He said passengers are advised how to cope on long flights.
