Taoiseach Mr Bertie Ahern today announced a £6 million investment for the Rotunda Hospital aimed at improving neo-natal services for patients and families.

The money will go to amalgamating the existing Paediatric Unit and the Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit. Thirty-six new accomodation units for intensive, isolation and special care will be created.
Mr Ahern said it would allow the hospital to better cope with the increase in work which has followed the "greatly improved survival rates of premature babies due to marvellous advances in medical science".
