President Robinson will today officially open an innovative exhibition of toys and utensils made in Africa from recycled materials. The project, "The Value of Rubbish", includes models of buses, cars, bicycles and helicopters, which are made by local artists from scrap wire and cloth.
Figures which move in unison to chop wood, grind maize or play musical instruments are also part of the colourful exhibition along with buckets, bowls, knives, forks and spoons, all made from parts of a bus.
The toys and utensils come from a variety of African countries including Malawi and Ethiopia. The exhibition, which has already been on display in Cork, runs until March 2nd in the ENFO centre on St Andrew Street, Dublin 2. Entry is free.
