AER Lingus has rejected a pay deal for its pilots recommended by an independent tribunal. The Irish Air Line Pilots Association (IALPA) said last night they were dismayed at the rejection of the report of the Tribunal on Pilots' Pay.
IALPA will meet over the weekend to consider its response and is due to meet management on Tuesday. Any strike action would probably happen at the end of September.
The report recommended a 17 per cent pay increase in three stages. A union spokesman said the pilots had agreed to the tribunal "in good faith" and were angry that its recommendation had been rejected.
The company said the report was flawed" and argued that it did not consider all the material available to it. It accused IALPA representatives of walking out of a meeting on Thursday.
