Up to 100 Aer Arann staff are likely to lose their jobs as a result of a change to the airline’s business model announced today.
In a statement the company said the changes were to "better position the airline in the current difficult operating environment" and will see the overall workforce decline by around a quarter.
It will base its new business model around just nine aircraft with its four other planes allocated to the charter and wet lease markets. Wet leasing involves the charter of an aircraft and its crew and engineering staff.
Aer Arann said it has started talks with unions over the cost reduction programme.
