German sportswear and equipment maker Adidas said today a French court had fined it 2.4 million euros ($2.3 million) over a contract to supply kit to every team in the French first division.

Competitors Nike and Umbro filed suit in 1995.
An Adidas spokesman said the firm was now concentrating its marketing efforts on several top French teams.
