A drug addict caught stealing lighters from an O'Connell Street, Dublin, shop threatened to return and "stick a needle" in the shopkeeper, Dublin District Court heard yesterday. Donna Hutch (22), of Canon Lillis Avenue, Dublin, pleaded guilty to threatening the shopkeeper and four larceny charges committed between July 13th and August 23th this year.

Defence solicitor Mr Dermot Morris told the court his client had been addicted to heroin since the age of 17. She was sentenced to serve a further three months at the end of a two-year sentence she is currently serving.
