The Sinn Fein president, Mr Gerry Adams, has said he will initiate legal proceedings against the RUC Chief Constable, Sir Hugh Annesley, over his alleged detention for several hours at a road block on the Lower Ormeau Road in Belfast on the night of July 11th.
Mr Adams said in a statement his legal advice was that the RUC had behaved unlawfully on that occasion, when the Lower Ormeau district was sealed off, and he urged others whose movements had been impeded to seek legal advice also.
