Notorious loyalist paramilitary leader Johnny "Mad Dog" Adair has failed in a legal challenge to his imprisonment.

Notorious loyalist paramilitary leader Johnny "Mad Dog" Adair has failed in a legal challenge to his imprisonment.

The Lord Chief Justice this morning refused a judicial review of Northern Secretary Mr Paul Murphy's decision to send him back to jail last month.

He had his early release licence revoked on January 10th when Mr Murphy said Adair had been involved in directing terrorism, drug dealing, extortion and weapons offences.

Adair's lawyers claimed the decision to jail him was unlawful because he had been denied a fair and public hearing of the charges against him.
