London - Actor Michael Caine and director Ken Loach were presented with special awards for their contribution to British film in London last night.
Caine's portrayal of Ray Say in Little Voice is being called one of his best for years, but the Evening Standard British Film Awards 1998 also recognised his long contribution to movies in Britain and abroad.
Kes director Ken Loach similarly showed the best years of his career were far from over with last year's Glasgow-set film My Name Is Joe, hailed as one of his finest.
