Gardaí in Co Wexford are now investigating up to five complaints in relation to alleged abuse at a public swimming pool in New Ross.
It is understood that following publicity last week about a Garda investigation associated with the JFK Memorial Pool in New Ross, a number of other individuals have made allegations.
In a separate development it has emerged that, as part of the investigation, gardaí have recently searched a house in the New Ross area.
A computer which was seized in the course of the search has now been sent to the Garda Technical Bureau in Dublin for analysis.
Supt Tom Saunderson told The Irish Times yesterday the investigation was "ongoing".
The investigation in relation to the swimming pool in New Ross got underway earlier this month when gardaí received a number of allegations.
It is understood that some of these allegations dated back up to 20 years. It is understood that a number of people have been interviewed by gardaí as part of the investigation.
The pool was closed temporarily earlier this month shortly after the investigation began. However, it reopened after a day.
New Ross Town Council, which owns and runs the pool, has declined to comment on the investigation.
The national governing body for swimming, Swim Ireland, has said that it is aware that gardaí are investigating allegations involving the swimming pool at New Ross.
Swim Ireland said, in a statement last week, that "as a Garda investigation is underway it would not be appropriate to make any comment at this stage".
