Four Dublin men, including two brothers, charged in relation to a failed robbery at the AIB bank in Abbeyleix last Friday appeared in court yesterday.

Judge Mary Martin agreed to minor amendments being made to the charges facing three of the defendants.

She also acceded to a request from Supt Maurice Regan that the four be remanded in custody to Cloverhill District Court on Friday, December 21st.

The four men face charges of conspiracy to commit a robbery at the bank. The four are: Mr Gareth Quinn, Maplewood Way, Tallaght, who is also charged with being carried in a stolen vehicle at Abbeyleix; Mr Kevin Lynch, Glenshane Crescent, Tallaght, also charged with taking possession of a vehicle at Main Street, Blanchardstown, on Friday, December 7th; Mr John Bishop, St Ronan's Drive, Clondalkin, also charged with using a vehicle without consent on Friday, December 7th; and Mr Ian Quinn, St Aongus Road, Tymon North, Tallaght, also charged with taking possession of a vehicle at the Stillorgan Road on November 25th.

Mr Ian Quinn was also charged during the hearing of failing to turn up in Kilmainham District Court on October 19th.

He told Judge Martin he had not been told of the existence of the bench warrant.

On this matter, Mr Quinn was remanded to Kilmainham District Court on Monday.
