Believe it or not, the Temple Bar Market in Dublin's Meetinghouse Square has now been running for a year, and will today celebrate its birthday with a big party.
The market has been the runaway success story of the food world in the past year, attracting devoted customers who relish the superb quality of the food sold by the stallholders every Saturday.
To celebrate, there will be live classical music, face-painting for the kids, live cookery demonstrations by Ben Gorman of The Mermaid Cafe and Eleanor Walsh of Eden, and lots of tastings of foods and wines. The market is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Meetinghouse Square is situated between Essex Street and Dame Street, or simply ask directions to Eden restaurant, and the square is behind the restaurant.
