A large group of politicians was actually on Bull Island this week rather than in it. As debate raged over the dropping of what RT╔ calls political satire, (ie Bull Island), the Oireachtas Golf Society had an outing to St Ann's Golf Club in Dublin Bay. Some 35 members and former members of Leinster House and their associates competed in what was outgoing president Des O'Malley's last day in office before Labour's Jack Wall takes over. A turkey was presented to the winner, FG deputy Phil Hogan.
If one ignored the weather, there were some similarities with the recent short-lived Big Brother type sketch on Bull Island of leading lights from Leinster House labouring over the sand-dunes with sweat pouring from their brows. But as one said on the real Bull Island "we were terribly disappointed that the TV cameras weren't here to film us".
