AFRI, the 22-year-old organisation working for justice, peace and human rights, involves, needless to say, a serious group of people. But sometimes, they reason, they have to laugh. Luckily actor and playwright, Donal O'Kelly is a member of their board and was able to put together an evening's entertainment that looks as though it will be anything but strait-laced.
Donal approached novelists Roddy Doyle, Pat McCabe and Joe O'Connor, playwright Conor McPherson, poet Paula Meehan and the riotous band, Kila and asked them for their services. The result is a benefit night in Mother Redcaps next Friday, January 16th, at 9 p.m. called - yup - "You Have To Laugh". Tickets are £10 and available from Afri (01-4968595).
