THE Special Criminal Court yesterday fixed bail of £50,000 for a Dublin man accused of kidnapping the former National Irish Bank chief executive, Mr Jim Lacey, in 1993.
Mr Joseph Kavanagh (38), of Benbulben Road, Crumlin, is facing seven charges including falsely imprisoning Mr Lacey at Blackrock, Co Dublin, on November 2nd, 1993.
The court fixed bail at two independent sureties of £25,000 each despite objections from senior gardai.
Mr Justice Johnson, presiding, said the court had heard no specific evidence from gardai that Mr Kavanagh would interfere with witnesses or not turn up for his trial.

After fixing bail the court remanded Mr Kavanagh in custody until June 24th next.
