A total of 46 people today appeared at Mullingar District Court in relation to a public-order incident on July 29th 2008 in Mullingar.
The charges at the special sitting of the court, under Judge John Neilan, were generally related to violent disorder, although some were also charged with criminal damage and carrying offensive weapons.
Forty-five men and one woman appeared at the sitting. Cash sureties was presented to the court, and all of those charged were released on bail.
A number of conditions were laid down for bail, including a ban on entering certain estates in Mullingar. The accused were also instructed to sign on twice-weekly at a Garda Station and were banned from gathering in public in groups of more than two.
Gardaí made a large number of arrests this morning in connection with the incident involving 200 people on July 29th, 2008, at Dalton Park, Mullingar, Co Westmeath.
