London - Four people were taken to hospital last night when the nose wheel of a passenger aircraft collapsed as it landed at Bournemouth International Airport.

A spokeswoman for the airport said two children and two adults were taken to Poole General Hospital as a precaution.

In a separate incident, flights in and out of Gatwick Airport were diverted last night after a Boeing 767 carrying 146 people slid off the runway and into mud. None of the passengers or crew on board the Britannia flight from Manchester to Gatwick were injured.
