London - Welsh magistrates remanded three young men and a woman in custody yesterday over what police described as a "dreadful, racist" killing of an Indonesian-born man.
A spokeswoman for Gwent regional police said the four were charged with battering to death 48-year-old Jan Martin Pasalbessi on Monday in the grounds of a hospital in south Wales, after he took his stepdaughter there to be treated.
The four were Mr Roger Talbot (21), of Cwmbran, Ms Emma Oates (19) of Newport, Mr Ashley Haynes (18) of no fixed address, and a 16-year-old boy who is too young for police to reveal his identity.
